The Kansas City Chiefs have made the decision on their new normal manager.
The Chiefs promoted co-director of player personnel Brett Veach in order to general manager on Saturday. The development was initial reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport along with NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Veach's promotion comes following your Chiefs and former basic manager John Dorsey produced the surprising decision to part ways on June 22 -- identical day the team brought in coach Andy Reid to a contract extension. Dorsey served as the particular Chiefs' GM for four seasons before the team informed him it might not commit to stretching out his contract as he entered one more year of his deal.
Reid gave Veach their first big shot in the NFL a decade ago with the Philadelphia Eagles. Veach -- then being employed by the athletic department with his alma mater, the University of Delaware -- became a member of Reid in Philadelphia being a scout and assistant via 2007 to 2012.
Ten years after obtaining in Philly, Veach is prolonging his stick with Reid in Kansas City -- he has worked as the team's co-director of player personnel since 2013.
Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt formally introduced Veach for the reason that team's new GM inside a statement:
"After a comprehensive lookup process, I am pleased to announce we have hired Brett Veach to serve because the next general manager with the Kansas City Chiefs, " Hunt said. "Brett has a razor-sharp football mind, a tremendous work ethic plus a keen eye for discovering talent. Over the last several seasons he's played an essential role in building our own football team. I look forward to working with him to continue to construct on the strong foundation we've in place. "
Veach will report to help Hunt on all gambler personnel matters, the team announced. He thanked both Hunt and Reid in his very own statement.
"My family and I'd really like to extend our gratitude to Clark along with the Hunt family for this kind of incredible opportunity, " Veach said inside a statement. "I am humbled in addition to honored to serve since the general manager of your Kansas City Chiefs. Over the last a number of seasons I've had the privilege to work alongside [coach] Andy Reid, Dorsey and a great band of coaches and personnel personnel. Together, we built a strong foundation of players who have helped us sustain success about the field. I'm looking forward to continuing our progress even as we head into 2017. "
The Chiefs will formally introduce Veach because the general manager in any press conference on Saturday, July 24. The team starts education camp four days down the line Friday, July 28.
